Antabuse
Alcoholism is a serious problem not only for a person who abuse alcohol but also for his or her family. Alcohol ruins people’s lives, has a severe impact upon unborn baby’s health, and cause serious changes of people’s behavior sometimes making them dangerous. It is impossible to make someone quit drinking without their own decision. But there are some ways to support them on their way to do it. Antabuse is a drug used for alcohol-abuse control. It interferes with the metabolism causing unpleasant effects after alcohol consumption. It provokes vomiting and upset stomach.
You should not drink alcohol while taking Antabuse. It may cause certain unpleasant effects such as nausea, chest pain, vertigo and fast heartbeat. Pay attention to the composition of some medications or food products that can usually content alcohol. Discuss with your healthcare provider all possible risks and consequences of your usage of Antabuse. It may be dangerous for you to take that medicine if you have liver, kidney, or thyroid disease; mental disorders, seizures, or diabetes. The medication is potentially dangerous for unborn baby. Inform your doctor if you get pregnant during the treatment course.
